Rite of Candidacy
The Rite of Candidacy Mass was hosted at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Andale. Bishop Carl Kemme was the principal celebrant. The Mass marked the acceptance of Alex James Klein & Caleb Jonathan Garner into the pursuit of Holy Orders-either diaconate of priesthood.
Dinner in the parish hall followed the Mass. The meal as provided by Blue Moon Catering in Wichita. The evening was hosted by the Downtown Serra Club. Seminarians introduced themselves, name, home parish and what they did this past summer. Father Chad Arnold and Bishop Kemme had remarks after dinner.
Parting Gifts
At the end of the evening, envelopes were distributed to each seminarian with cash as a gift from the Serra Metro Club members. For the seminarians, this was the last activity prior to heading back to school for the fall semester, either at the House of Formation of to one of the major seminaries that we send our seminarians to.
Diocese of Wichita-Ordinations
Evening with the Seminarians
The Dicoses of Wichita sponsorted an Evening witht e Seminarians on May 21st at St. Catherine of Sienna CAthilkic Church. The evening started with Vespers and then we proceeded to the event space for a delicious meal and a chance to meet our soon to be newest priests.
Corporate Caterers provided the hors des overes for the Serrans and community gathered to honor our upcoming priests. Thanks to Father Dan Spexarth and his staff at St Catherines for hosting the event.
Ordination
Ordination for 3 Deacons from the Diocese of Wichita was on May 24th at the Cathedral. Bishop Carl Kemme was the principal celebrant for this important occasion. The evening before, seven seminarians of the diocese were elevated to the Deaconate, the final step in their journey to the priesthood.
